A Buyer’s Guide to Wet Towels

The wet towel arrives at a specific moment in service — before the meal, after a course eaten by hand, or as a guest is seated. It is a small gesture that guests consistently remember, and the choice between disposable and reusable comes down to volume, cost per service and the impression you want to make.

Where wet towels are used

Traditionally associated with Japanese oshibori service, wet towels are now standard across a much wider range of settings: restaurants serving food eaten by hand, airlines and rail catering, takeaway and delivery operations, event caterers and private dining. Anywhere a guest is likely to want to clean their hands without leaving the table.

Serving cotton towels

Cotton towels are served warm for comfort or chilled in hot weather. A towel warmer holds them at temperature through service, which is the difference between a considered gesture and a lukewarm cloth. Roll each towel and present on a tray or in a dish, one per guest, with tongs.

Storage and shelf life

Sealed tissue towels keep well in a cool, dry place and should be stored out of direct sunlight, which degrades the fragrance and the seal. Cotton towels should be laundered promptly after service rather than left damp — a warm, wet towel left in a pile will develop odour within hours.

Wet Towel FAQs

Should I choose tissue or cotton?

Tissue suits high volume and situations where laundry is impractical — takeaway, delivery, airlines and large events. Cotton suits restaurants and private dining where the towel is part of the service ritual and the higher cost is justified by the impression it makes.

Are tissue wet towels individually wrapped?

Yes. Each towel is individually sealed, which keeps it hygienic until the moment it is opened and means no preparation is needed before service.

How do I keep cotton towels warm?

A towel warmer holds them at temperature through service. We supply one alongside the range.

What fragrances are available?

Our tissue range includes an OUD fragrance alongside unscented options in snow white, yellow and royal black. Cotton towels are supplied unscented so you can add your own if you wish.
