Every item is specified for commercial laundering rather than domestic use, in weights from a quick-drying 380gsm sweat towel through to a dense 750gsm bath mat.
Heavier towels feel more generous and dry better, but take longer through the laundry, so most properties settle between 450 and 550gsm for guest rooms. Bath linen FAQs
What does gsm mean?
Grams per square metre, the weight of the fabric. A higher gsm towel is thicker and feels more luxurious, while a lower gsm towel is lighter, dries faster and costs less to launder.
Which towel weight should I choose?
Most hotel and guest house rooms use 450 to 550gsm towels. 600gsm suits suites, spas and premium rooms where the towel is part of the guest experience. Bath mats are heavier again at 700 to 750gsm so they absorb properly underfoot.
What is the difference between a bath towel and a bath sheet?
A bath sheet is noticeably larger than a bath towel and wraps around the body. Many hotels provide bath sheets in upgraded rooms and bath towels as the standard.
